For years, MESA’s annual Rotary Tour has brought cyclists together from across Northern Ohio to raise funds and awareness for a mission that delivers medical and educational equipment around the world.
This year, MESA introduced something new: the MESA 50, a single-day ride designed for participants who want to support the organization without committing to the full multi-day tour.
To help communicate that change, Emerge Inc. worked with the MESA team to redesign and reorganize the event’s website experience.
A New Way to Participate
The existing MESA Tour page was built around a single event. With the addition of the new MESA 50 ride, visitors needed a way to quickly understand the differences between the two options.
The MESA team provided a detailed vision for the update, including content, layouts, registration pathways, route maps, downloadable resources, and fundraising information. The goal was not simply to add another registration button, but to create a page that clearly explained how both rides fit into the larger MESA mission.
Bringing Structure to the Experience
Working closely with MESA’s leadership team, we restructured the page around a simple concept: Two Ways to Ride for MESA.
The updated layout introduces both cycling options side-by-side, allowing visitors to compare the traditional multi-day Rotary Tour and the new MESA 50 single-day ride at a glance.
The redesign included:
- A new dual-column layout highlighting both ride options
- Separate registration and flyer resources for each event
- Route maps for both rides
- Updated fundraising and sponsorship information
- A reorganized “Get Involved” section
- New donation and sponsorship download resources
- Navigation updates that renamed the section from “MESA Tour” to “MESA Rides”
- Reorganization of existing content to improve clarity and usability
Rather than requiring visitors to search through a long page of information, the redesign places the most important details where riders, sponsors, and volunteers expect to find them.
Supporting the Mission
MESA’s fundraising rides help support a larger mission that provides usable medical and educational equipment to communities around the world.
Medical equipment that may no longer be needed in the United States can have a life-changing impact in countries where access to those resources is limited. Through donations, volunteers, and fundraising efforts like the Rotary Tour and MESA 50, MESA helps move those supplies from warehouses in Ohio into the hands of hospitals, schools, and community organizations around the globe.
As organizations evolve, their websites need to evolve with them.
In this case, the update was not about introducing new technology. It was about creating a clearer experience that helps riders, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters understand how they can participate in MESA’s mission.
At Emerge, some projects involve entirely new websites. Others involve helping organizations adapt existing platforms to meet new goals. Both are important, and both help ensure the people using a website can find the information they need quickly and confidently.
